Dwarfs unlikely to see new Slayer models

The evidence is there. Games Workshop has just gone live with the new releases and theres a new package (I wont call it a deal, you don't save anything) with the old metal slayers in it...

You can go here to see the full product page

The rest of the pre orders are here

  1. I wonder if it's because they think they can't compete with the AoW Beserkers? They can do some equally as good, maybe even a bit better. But the pricing will be much more, making the AoW ones a better buy. And if they lower prices to compete with the AoW kit, then they undermine their whole price structure in a very obvious way.

That's a mountain of speculation off a molehill of evidence, but it's a possibility. Another option is that they want to move their old metal stock before replacing it with plastic.

    1. Ido think it has something to do with AoW kit. My 'source' swears he has seen them, and they are a dual kit...

Interesting to note the Quarrellers have an entry in Rare now on the GW website. Most likely rangers have moved to rare.

For a moment there the Grudge Thrower had disappeared from the webstore. Its back in special now.

  2. Rangers in rare would really hurt. Prefer gw slayers aow heads too small for my taste. New slayer solo is nice but similar to scibor range. Some rules out to on faet212

    1. I think the build on the AoW Beserkers is one of their strongpoints. The metal GW slayers have giant boof-heads that look stupid in comparison to their bodies, which look small in comparison. Whereas the smaller AoW heads make their bodies look even beefier and muscular in comparison, which suits my conception of a dwarf; extremely stocky, almost square in their build.

Also, remember that the Slayers aren't wearing helmets, so their heads should look smaller than a Warrior or Hammerer. Compare a person with a motorbike helmet on to that of someone without one.

  3. I might be cynical but you think they are trying to offload the metal ones they have left over?! Before dropping a new plastic kit?I would also think GW could produce a better quality kit that AoW. Without the difficultly in getting it from Spain.

    1. I think you are being cynical. GW have never pulled a stunt like that before. GW metals are still nice models. AoW have the advantage of being plastic but look like they were sculpted 10+ years ago

    2. I disagree that the AoW Beserkers look like early sculpts; I think their aesthetic is quite 'modern', and they fit well with current Dwarf models, even the new Longbeards/Hammerers. Certainly better than the GW Warrior plastics. The models have a lot of detail and the sculptor's skill is evident.

The metal GW Slayers I have are OK, and they do have some advantages as models, in particular the depth of detail in the beards and mohawks. But even if they were at the same price, I'd buy more of the AoW ones if I needed more.
