More Pictures, and no points in sight...

There looks to be more and more evidence pointing to a complete lack of balance/army selection system. If this is true, I don't know who at GW made the call, but they finally may have managed to put the last nail in the coffin of WHFB as a game. 

I hold hope that this is just the starter box warscrolls, and there will be more complete ones for general release. Hurry up saturday...

  1. I'm hoping that points values will be in subsequent publications, probably an army book.

    Because without them, I can't see how this game is playable outside of defined scenarios. With no mechanism to establish equivalency between a Bloodthirster and a Skavenslave, the game becomes a free-for-all. Which might be fun on occasion with good mates, but utterly unworkable about 95% of the time. Surely GW will realize this.

    So I'm giving GW the benefit of the doubt, and I'll wait for points to come out.

  2. A couple of interesting points raised by the warscrolls. The first is there is now going to be a hero-phase when your hero only can do certain things. The second is that you can use missile and melee attacks in the same turn. The third is that each unit can only charge once they are within a certain distance, though you still need to roll to see if you make the charge.

    I wonder if we are seeing a move to more 40k style turns, when you have a move phase, a hero phase, a missile phase, a charge phase and then a melee phase.

    Victory is based on percentage of kills so a small force can potentially still win against a horde.

    I actually like the premise. Is it workable...unsure...is it tournament friendly? Absolutely not

      I read that blog, and I think he seemed to miss the point that not all models are equal. If I have 15 Skullcrushers and you have 30 Orc Boyz, you might outnumber me, but I think that I have more combat power. A points system shows this, but if AoS doesn't have this, I can't see how it can work, even in friendly garage games with your best mate.

      So I hope that this (massive) gap is addressed when the battlescrolls, army books and all the rest of the publications are released. Without it, the game doesn't work as far as I can see.

    5. I agree Tane without point values they won't remotely have any balance, as numbers don't mean much. From your example 1 Orc Boyz is not equivalent to a prince on star dragon or greater daemon.

      Hopefully the main battle scrolls have pts values.

      After a quick read through the 4 page rules, it seems GW are going towards a single ruleset for both AoS and 40k as the new ruleset strikes me as slightly adapted 40k rules
