Celestant Prime pictures leak + hobby update

The Celestant Prime, first among Sigmars warriors, wielding Ghal Maraz his very own weapon, and the Celestial Rod which turns him into Teto'eko on steroids!

Love it or hate it, AoS is receiving a lot more love these past few months than most other games do in years. Now if only Games Workshop would actually write a decent tactical game with a balancing mechanism.... don't hold your breath, they hate us. They don't want us recruiting new players into the hobby for them anymore...

In other news, White Dwarf has gone digital on an iPad app, and can now be had for less than half the cost of a paper copy. $3.79 per weekly issue or $10.99 for a 4 week subscription.

Warhammer 9th age is starting to get some traction, with the usual culprits involved with ETC/Swedish/various comp systems having input into the first draft (version 0.1).

Warhammer 8.5 and other various renditions seem to wax and wane dependent on the time of day, with many attempts at 'fixing' 8th already being tried. The question begs to differ, if it needed so much fixing, then why where people not already re-writing it? Short of comp nothing of the sort really had effort thrown at it.

Around the globe, several AoS events have had their time in the sun, with Clash an example being held in the UK this past weekend with 60 in attendance. No real word yet on the scope of its success from a competitive perspective but word on the street was games tended to be decided on the first double turn swings.

A little closer to home, my blog has been a bit quieter this past month not because of lack of interest, but more due to work and a little computer game called World of Warships taking up far too much time. Seriously good fun cruising around in a Yamato class Battleship!

Also, hobby room (well, man/wardollie cave) 2.0 is nearing completion. Just awaiting a few more paint racks and book cases to arrive. Pictures to come. One thing for sure, I have way to many paints...

This weeks White Dwarf & AoS release pictures

We have picture from the latest White Dwarf. Unfortunately they are in German, of which I read very little of.

This week we see themed dice cups, a hardcover AoS book which I assume to be the scenario/fluff/background plus the 4 pages of rules (BRB replacement) as well as a limited edition version.

We also get the Lord model pictured above, as well as a box of 5 Stormcast Eternals with options to make the following:
shield and blade two blades hammer and shield two hammers 1 grandblade 1 grandhammer

Oh, and not a 40k model in sight...

Has the latest White Dwarf told us more than we know?

I've had a chance to read the latest White, and I must say it has some interesting tip bits in it that elude to grander things to come, at least, fluff wise...

Long may it do so in the future... Warhammer... what are they trying to tell us? Ghal Maraz does apear in the new Age of Sigmar logo...

The mightiest battles are mere skirmishes in the face of what will happen...
New enemies. Old Friends.
Warhammer is but a preface...

At the top of the column, but we already knew this...
The next two paragraphs are in reference to pictures, however they also elude of things to come. Will we see Vlad in AoS? Daemons is a no brainer.
Will we see Nagash again? I doubt they made such an amazing model just to scrap it 6 months later.

Well that settles it. Nagash will be in Age of Sigmar.

Although most of the WHFB material in White Dwarf reads an eulogy, there are several tip bits eluding to what may come in the next rendition of Fantasy. One thing is clear, nothing will remain the same, however many things will endure.

There is also talk in Whote Dwarf that the Heroes of the End of Times are just mere shadows of the Heroes of the Age of Sigmar. Could AoS be Herohammer reborn? That could well be the angle for the skirmish game. GW would then be hoping to sell a few large kits and a hand full of infantry for an army. Is that really a profitable model?

New Space Marine sprues sighted

Anything but Ones has posted some new pictures taken from White Dwarf of new Space Marine sprues

Now it appears from these images that there will be at least 3 chapters getting upgrade sprues to supposedly modify a core plastic kit to represent loyalist chapters, as the above Ultramarines, Imperial Fists, and Dark Angels elude to.

Question remains, how will they be packaged? It will be interesting to see if they make kits that include the new frames or package them separate. One could speculate that this has been a reaction to chapterhouse legal stuff.

The Martians have landed

Next weeks WD cover

Some close ups of the next release after the Knights this week. Pre-orders will go up on the 9th of may for the first wave.

I believe these are the new electro priests

Im sorry but I think these look ridiculous. They just dont fit in with the aesthetic of the rest of the range. They are far to bulky/clunky. They would have looked so much better if the torso was mounted on some spider legged body like the onager. The upper body looks great!

New priest model. Nailed it.

WTF? how can they get something so wrong. Its almost like its a (origional) clown face Nagash story. Management chose the goofy head again. This looks like some 90's action figure. I will be sticking to the much much much nicer Castelex model from Forgeworld. In fact I think FW will find a massive boost in sales as 99% of customers will be buying their sculpt over this ridiculous piece of crap...

Although in saying that, a head conversion would make things work with this model. I'm going to regret saying this but it could do with a skull face...

Cult Mechanicus pictures leaked!

Somebody's managed to get their hands on a promotional poster revealing the complete new Mechanicus range, including the new cult admech!

The new unreleased Cult Mechanicus appear alongside the Skitarii in what appears to be a combined offering. GW have been moving in a direction of multiple books for a long time but this appears to be the first time different parts of the same army appear in different books entirely.

Personally I am not soild on the clunky big bipedal robots or the tracked ones in the middle. The aesthetics seam to be too bulky compared with the rest of the range. Will wait to see better pictures however. Thankfully, Forgeworld do direct alternates to them.

Execution Force - New Board game from GW

This weeks White Dwarf cover has leaked revealing the much rumoured new Assassin's board game from Games Workshop, aptly named Execution Force.

It is said to be a complete standalone board game which includes the four assassins pictured, plus a bunch of victims for them to assassinate.

No word on pricing but sounds like a fun little board game at first glance...

More Skitarii in this weeks White Dwarf

Hmm. This Skitarii faction of the Mechanicum is looking nicer all the time. I remember reading about the Skitarii for the first time in Horus Heresy: Mechanicum
These models are living up to how I imagined them

Apparently we will get a HQ and Dune Walker next week, and then in a few months the Adeptus Mechanicus will get a full release!

White Dwarf: Visions is changing format

Picture says it all really. After 18 months a refresh is in order. I wonder if there will be a content change or that the formula of pretty pictures is working a treat..?

Archaon, Endtimes, Wrathmongers and Skullreapers, all in one week!

This weeks White Dwarf

New Wrathmongers

and new Skullreapers. Such amazing naming convention...

The final installment of the End of Times!

Also on limited edition

Skullreaper rules

Wrathmonger rules

A quick glance at the rules and it seams that Skullreapers would be the better build. Same stats as the Wrathmongers, but 10 points cheaper once equipped with ensorcelled weapons. Wrathmongers have the better first round on combat with strength 6, but both are equal there after.

Bloodthirster on this weeks White Dwarf cover

Pictures of the next White Dwarf have finally landed. The Bloodthirster makes itself known finally and it looks to be a towering kit. It looks huge in comparrison to the Bloodletters which are decent sized models to begin with.

It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the Creature Caster kickstarter one (if/when it finally gets released...)

If they are of similar size they will look great on the tabletop together
