Space Hulk re-release confirmed

So this weeks White Dwarf confirms Space Hulk is being re- released, and ends one of the most amazing releases Games Workshop has done in recent times.
So much so that several exclusively 40k players down this way have made the jump and started WHFB!

Yup same edition as last time, but now it includes four additional missions, and some additional counters and gaming material.

Model range remains the same

White Dwarf includes some new missions. I'm unsure if these are the new ones or in addition to new ones in the box?

So rumours are surfacing next week is a 40k release, presumably Dark Eldar (Necrons are just as likely IMO) and then on to an expected second End of Times book focusing on Chaos forces. Rejoice, the all stars will be reunited once again!

Pedro Must Die! - Xmas Apocalypse

Over the Xmas break, a few of the locals got together for our annual apocalypse game.

We had the combined forces of destruction made up of World Eaters, Necrons and Orks

Defending them were the Crimson Fists, Blood Angels, Dark Angels Space marines, backed up by Imperial Guard and supported by a Titan Maniple

We set up of the Friday and spent the entire Saturday playing through approximately 24k a side

My Reaver Titan got the opportunity to lay down so fire suppression for the first time. It managed to notch up 3 super kills over the duration of the game.

The game was based around the infamous Pedro and his ability to survive any fight vs the forces of Chaos. One of the guys down here takes him every game and boasts he has never died once. Probably has a lot to do with hiding in fortifications all the time.

With the Blood Angels holding up the Orks almost single handedly, and the Imperial Guard and Dark Angels gun line fending off the Necrons, It was left to Pedro to fight Chaos.

With the support of the Titan Maniple Pedro managed to get the upper hand despite loosing his Aquila Stronghold early on and defeat Chaos yet again without a scratch on him!

Forgeworld New Releases

The last of the previewed Necrons from Fall of Orpheus has been released
In the ages-old Necron panoplies of war, the Canoptek Tomb Sentinel is all but unique. One of the last war machines designed by the Cryptek master-artificer Toholk the Blinded, at the Silent King’s command it was given over to the Praetorians for wider dissemination across the Necron dynasties before the Great Sleep.

Both guardian and aggressor, the Tomb Sentinel is a heavily modified variant of the insectile Tomb Stalker, which forgoes that device’s hellish close combat ability and instead mounts an Exile cannon, a powerful weapon which blasts objects out of existence, casting them into other dimensional realms beyond the material universe. Phasing through the paltry defences of lesser races like a phantom, the Canoptek Tomb Sentinel can deploy this terrible device into the close confines of an enemy stronghold with devastating effects.

The Canoptek Tomb Sentinel is a detailed multi-part resin kit designed by Will Hayes which offers a wealth of dynamic modelling opportunities, much like the Tomb Stalker. This model is available to pre-order nowfor despatch from Friday 31st May.

I only hope FW will do some characters and upgrade kits to customize/build the different Cryptek variants...

New FW Necron Pylons available for pre order

Forgeworld is marching on with the Fall of Orpheus book and this time around we have the other two sentry pylon gun options

Death Ray Pylon

The stasis-tombs of the Necrons are vast and shadowy edifices, and many an Imperial Explorator expedition has made planetfall on a dead world only to vanish without trace; slain at the hands of the unliving guardian-constructs that watch over their slumbering masters.

Among these defences are automated weapons platforms of strange design known as Pylons. Some of these are huge, cyclopean constructs, but Imperial tactical logisticians have codified smaller, tactical variants as Sentry Pylons. These powerful devices are arcs of glittering metal equipped with a weapons array that can strike with power so great as to be almost beyond comprehension. Some are outfitted with Death Rays, thermal energy weapons of extraordinary power, able to burn through infantry and armour with ease.

Model designed by Stuart Williamson, the Sentry Pylon with Death Ray is a multi-part resin kit that stands almost 6" (150mm) tall and is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 10th May.

Heat Cannon Pylon

I'm hoping we will see some Necron Infantry like the Lychguard varients in the book next...

Latest from Forgeworld - Necrons

Amidst the flurry of post relating to the new High Elf release, some stuff has gone under the radar

Forgeworld have put up the new Tesseract Ark and Sentry Pylons for pre order

New Tesseract Ark

The Tesseract Ark is one of the most powerful Necron war machines encountered on the battlefields of the 41st Millennium, and so sophisticated is its design, it can be manufactured only by the most adept of Crypteks. Built around a contained singularity torn from the heart of a dying star, in battle the Tesseract Ark can siphon the destructive energies of this captured star-fragment and unleash them in a variety of terrible ways. Most notably, the armoured bulk of the Tesseract Ark is surrounded by a gravitic distortion effect, a potent defensive mechanism.

The Tesseract Ark, designed by Daren Parrwood, is a complete multi-part resin and plastic kit, packed with detail. The forward armour and arcane projector array of its singularity chamber give it a unique profile, making a fantastic and menacing centrepiece for a Necron army.

Full rules and background for these two war machines can be found in Imperial Armour Volume Twelve: The Fall of Orpheus, and both the Sentry Pylon and the Tesseract Ark are available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 3rd May.
Note: One of the painted Tesseract Arks shown is a pre-production model and the final model has small detail changes.

New Sentry Pylon

The stasis-tombs of the Necrons are vast and shadowy edifices, and many an Imperial Explorator expedition has made planetfall on a dead world only to vanish without trace; slain at the hands of the unliving guardian-constructs that watch over their slumbering masters.

Among these defences are automated weapons platforms of strange design known as Pylons. Some of these are huge, cyclopean constructs, but Imperial tactical logisticians have codified smaller, tactical variants as Sentry Pylons. These powerful devices are arcs of glittering metal equipped with a weapons array that can strike down enemy aircraft at ranges so great as to be almost beyond comprehension. Some are outfitted with a gauss exterminator array, a larger and more potent example of the hellish energy weapons carried by the Necron soldiery, which can also be employed against ground targets with no loss of effectiveness, scouring vast areas clear of life and cutting buildings down to little more than smoking rubble.

The Necron Sentry Pylon with Gauss Exterminator, designed by Stuart Williamson, is a multi-part resin kit that stands almost 6" (150mm) tall. The Sentry Pylon’s cruciform arc profile is packed with detail, making each a fantastic painting project as well as a potent battlefield unit.

There dosn't appear to be any weapon options yet for the Sentry pylon as all the pictures from open day suggested. Guess its a wait and see situation.

Forgeworld Open Day - part 2

Now that its all done and dusted people are getting home and posting further information about the day. Some interesting stuff coming out of the wood-work including Imperial Fists being in book 3 of the Horus Heresy! Happy happy joy joy.

Here is a compilation:

Horus Heresy

Simon Egans informed me that Fulgrim is 'nearly finished, I just have some work to do on the cloak as I am not happy with it.' also said he was going straight home to work on him.
Apparently Fulgrim will be finished over the next few days and sent to get the moulds made this week. Fulgrim will be the next Primarch to be released in his opinion. He believes it will be previewed at the Horus Heresy weekender in May (exciting!!!). The next Primarch he is starting is Ferrus Manus...not entirely sure why.

This sounds like there is other Primarchs ready or near ready besides Fulgrim. Horus? Mortarion? Working of Ferrus next leads me to believe that the next book is almost ready to be relaeased.

Alan Bligh said that the Isvaan massacre will be divided into 2 books. The hope is that book 2: Massacre will be available for Games Day UK. It will feature 4 legions (this is the standard being set) - Night Lords, Salamanders, Iron Hands and Word Bearers. Book 3: (i think was called extermination.) will be released around Christmas or start of new year. 4 legions - Iron Warriors, Raven Guard, Alpha Legion and Imperial Fists. I was surprised about the inclusion of Imperial Fists however Alan explained its because the book will also include The Battle of Phall. This will be predominantly set on mortalis boards.

So from this we establish that each book will have four legions featured in them, and that we can expect two more books this year! Nice to see some loyalist legions in the mix but I am most excited about Imperial Fists! Can't wait to see Rogal Dorn in the flesh (resin). Not surprising they integrated them into the series with the Battle of Phall. FW have mentioned to me previously they where struggling to find a place to integrate them in as the only major conflict for them was Battle for Terra. I wonder if they will also feature in a Mars book vs the Dark Mechanicum.

Book 2: Massacre
Alan Bligh says this will hopefully be released at Games Day UK. It is being written at the same time as Book 3. The 4 legions in this book are:
Salamanders
Night Lords
Word Bearers
Iron Hands

Book 3: Extermination
Alan Bligh says this will be released around Christmas or early next year. The 4 legions are:
Alpha Legion
Raven Guard
Iron Warriors
Imperial Fists.

Warlord Titan
William Hayes stated that 'a Warlord Titan would only be slightly bigger than a Reaver, however it would be much more bulky!' After questioning Forge World on facebook last week, Drake was told will was not working on Titans at the current time.

Alan Bligh stated that everything will get rules and a model eventually.

Fantasy Stuff

Absolutely brilliant sneak peeks for many of the upcoming Fantasy models!

The Merwyrm that we’ve all seen in this months White Dwarf is now finished, cast up, and apparently ready for release in the next 6 weeks. The model looks fantastic, and seems to be swimming or crawling over a shipwreck! Expect to see lots of these in Golden Demon submerged in clear resin!

The Dread Maw is one of the last few monsters to be done from Monstrous Arcanum. It’s burrowing up out of the ground, and the mouth has hundreds of tiny teeth inside.

The Troll Mother is very WIP, but I got to speak to the sculptor Trish Carden, who told me we can expect to see a net full of the Mother’s victims on her back, ready to feed to her children. The model is huge, with enourmous grotesque sagging tits and lanky hair. Should be a great model when finished.

The other model ready for release with the new Black Fire Pass book is the Gobba Squig. Also seen in WIP version in White Dwarf, he’s now complete and absolutely fantastic.

I was also informed that Warhammer Forge ARE hoping/planning to produce a Necrofex Collossus AND Khemrian Titan, but are currently in the stages of producing block models and figuring out whether the finances and resources are available to produce what will inevitably be enourmous, expensive minis. Hopefully it will go ahead!

Blackfire Pass Book is aparently on hold as everyone is working on the Horus Heresy stuff.

Missing stuff from Warhammer World

All Dark Eldar
Eldar (all aspects)

Not Long Now

Forgeworld are starting to release more Necron stuff. Today we see the new Necron Sroud Bomber

No rules as of yet but the fluff talks about dropping anti matter bombs which are stored out of phase. Not to sure on the model itself either, as at first glance it looks like a Nightscyth with tacked on extensions. The kit is a plastic and resin so no doubt the main body is just a nightscyth. That canopy however... I want it.
More stuff found here

Next is the realm of battle board. We seen some pictures of this under construction from a games day and now it is a reality.

I think they executed this very well. A Monolith lands on the main pedestal and the two little ones appear to take tesla destructors from the barge kit. More pictures here

Necron Rules Clarification - iPad only?

So that clears that up (although people who argued against it where just a lil butt hurt...)

But interestingly enough, this update is for the iPad.  The above image is a screenshot from the latest Necron Codex update on iPad. Will we be seeing another round of FAQ's going up soon on the GW website? Or is this a new trend?
