Tamurkhan on runnout at Forgeworld

Forgeworld appear to be running out Tamurkhan: Throne of Chaos. Once its gone its gone, so no more reprints i'm told.

This may or may not affect the future of Chaos Dwarfs attending tournaments, but I can almost hear the "its not a real army" camp firing new shots already.

I have emailed Forgeworld asking if the Chaos Dwarf army will continue to be supported after they sell out of the book, and whether the rules for them will become available to download and/or updated.

This plays into what I have been told recently that Forgeworld will not be looking at WHFB again for at least 2 years.

A Weekend of Conquest

So my 40 days of 40k culminated in attending the South Islands main 40k event of the year, Conquest, in Christchurch. This years event attracted a field of 40 players from the 140 odd attending the multi-system weekend. This would be my first 40k tournament since 5th edition.

Sentinels of Terra, in all their glory!

My list consisted of a Fellblade, Sicarn with heavy bolter sponsons, Whirlwind Scorpius with Venteran of Keylek campaign, a Fire Raptor with Autocannon turrets, 2 10 marine Tactical squads with melta, combi-melta in drop pod, 1 10 marine Sternguard squad in drop pod, and a Master of the forge with 2 servitors.

Played Daryl first with his zombie hoard and C'tan mix. Ended up putting 22 wounds on the C'tan only for him to ward save 21 of them... He had gone first so the last turn was mine to steal the objectives and gain a win taking both primary and secondary objectives 7-2

Josh was up next with his Deathwing terminators. He deep struck them all in my side first turn. The Fellblade turn its attention to one squad taking a large tool only to be assaulted by josh turn 2 with his Warlord and escort, however when the Fellbade exploded, ony resulting in a st2 hit on the unit, I still managed to cause 2 wounds to his Warlord killing him! I spent the rest of the game running off with the relic throwing combat squads between me and the terminators eventually tableing my opponent. Josh was the only person to kill the Fellblade at the tournament. 9-2

JD had a hoard of Orks which suited my template numbers well. I had first turn taking big chunks out of his hoard. I put my drop pods on objectives early and managed to maintain the dominance. A last turn push by JD to contest some failed giving me both primary and secondary objectives. The Fire Raptor took a huge toll on his light vehicles. 9-1

Tim Adams and his very nicely painted space puppies where next up (ooooh do I hate space puppies!). Tim decided early on to ignore the Fellblade, which probably cost him the game. Got a good hit off with the Scorpios Whirlwind on his wolf riders, a cheeky shot from the Fellblade's accelerator cannon killed his Achilles, and terrible luck with his drop pods didn't help. I even managed to 1 shot overwatch a charge from his dread with a tactical marine using his melta gun... 9-1 win

Final round, and I unexpectedly find myself table 2 and within 3 points of the top. Karn's Eldar did not fair any better than the rest. Poison from the Sternguard help clean out the Avatar and Wraith Knight, Scorpios Whirlwind got 4 hits on a Nightweaver, and then proceeded to roll 4 's for pen before dieing to combined firepower of the war walkers. The Fire Raptor almost went down in flames after getting a  immobilized result from being shot by the Eldar flier, but then the Fellblade exacted revenge by snapfiring a quad lascannon and exploding it mid air. 9-2

So a rather eventful weekend after staying up to 4am Friday night painting everything in preparation. After only 2 games of 7th before the tournament I managed to come first place to my surprise. I boil it down to all the ruthless WHFB tournaments preparing me!
Thanks to Wes for taking the time to run a great event and to all my opponents for 5 good games.

What do we have here?

What is dis?

One hangs on to hope it could be a WHFB chaos supplement along the lines of the Nagash book, but being that it is from forgeworld, I'm expecting some Chaos 30/40k rubbish...

It is a very "fantasy" looking icon however....

Dread Suarian finally available

It taken over a year since preview but Forgeworld have finally found a slot to release it in between paua ama

I wonder if we will see the K'daai Destroyer any time soon...

Dread Saurian is almost here

Forgeworld are keeping their promise of a weekly update and this time around we get a sneak peak at the finished Dread Saurian that has been making the open days and games day tours this past year.

Hopefully this will mean that the K'daai Destroyer is just around the corner as this is also finished and awaiting a release slot.

Unfortunately there has been no new news on whether or not Black Fire Pass will see the light of day any time soon. I for one hope us WHFB enthusiasts will get the Horus Heresy treatment again soon. Forgeworlds first attempt was not met with as much fanfare as they hoped. It promised a lot but did not deliver on what the community wanted, and that is fleshing out of new races and specialist lists.

Show us the armies of Ind or Cathay. A lost colony of Sea Elves. Southlands lizardmen or Nagash!

Horus Heresy Book 3 due out soon.

Horus Heresy

So I have it on good advice that we can expect Book 3 of the Horus Heresy and the third part to the Istvaan Trilogy within the next 3-4 months.

Book 3: Part 2 of Istvaan V and the battle of Phall will cover the remaining stages of the Dropsite Massacre, and the battle between Imperial Fist and the Iron Warriors in the Phall system

Book 3 will cover the following Legions:
IMPERIAL FISTS!
Raven Guard
Iron Warriors
Alpha Legion

As well as having a sprinkling of Adeptus Mechanicum including the likes of the Myrmidon Destroyers and a new vehicle...

Warhammer Forge

On the Warhammer Forge front we will also see the release of the previously seen K'daai Destroyer alongside the Dread Saurian shortly. Both are ready for moulds to be made and await an opening in the production cycle process.

On the down side Warhammer Forge has been officially shelved for the near future, and all staff are working on Horus Heresy models. The book covering the Battle for Black Fire Pass is also shelved.

This is a huge shame as there was much potential for Warhammer Forge to introduce some fringe armies that are often in the background fluff, such as their popular Legion of Azgorh. This all has a lot to do with sales, and it makes sense from a business perspective where Forgeworld are obviously making far more money selling Horus Heresy kits. It does however go against their earlier statements that the Horus Heresy would not impact Warhammer Forge at all.

It is interesting to note the predominant focus of the alternative miniature industry is Fantasy models where as the 3rd party parts industry is Scifi

    Raaaawwr...

Finally some more fantasy love from Forgeworld!

With their circular mouths, studded with rows of sickle-shaped teeth, Dread Maws can seize and devour a fully armoured man in seconds. Often, smaller prey is swallowed whole, but even the largest creatures will fall foul of the Dread Maw's ravenous appetite. Bursting forth from beneath the ground and latching on with their hooked teeth, they can tear their way inside the greatest of beasts, eviscerating them from within and quickly hollowing out their ruptured carcass.

The Dread Maw, designed by Keith Robertson, is a multi part resin model that depicts the beast erupting from beneath the ground. The Dread Maw is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 26th July.

And these beautiful sculpts of  the Empire that we previewed at Forgeworld open day

Officers in the Empire can vary in prowess on the battlefield, in the authority they project and the tactics them employ. Noble born officers are trained from youth in swordsmanship and hunting, while others make their way up through the ranks, having once fought shoulder to shoulder alongside the men they now lead.

The Empire Command Set, designed by Steve Whitehead, contains three multi-part models. Each character is packed with fine details, from the proud bearing of the officer and the solemnly dutiful battle standard bearer, whose sun motif on his coat mirrors that on the banner, to the raving flagellant who sports nails peircing the flesh of his arms. This fantastic character set is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 26th July.

Look I'm happy for some more love in the fantasy area, and I know the market is not as big as 30k, but damn it Forgeworld, just release the bloody Bull Centaur Taur'ruk!!!!!!!!!!

Last week we also seen the arrival of more Heresy Models in the form of Palatine Blades

They are very nice models, however they will look better once my Imperial Fists have crushed a few of their skulls with a thunder hammer...

And of course the only thing better than a grenade launcher... is a jump pack equipped marine with a grenade launcher. I'm sure I can find a niche within my legion for one of these...

We should also see the new Imperial Armour: Apocalypse from Forgeworld soon

Did I mention Forgeworld should hurry up and release my damn Truck!
