Timing...

With the huge push of AoS, likely the biggest launch effort that Games Workshop has made in its history, it does appear they have dropped the ball with one thing...

The Dawn of War series introduced a large array of new people into the hobby and made the wider gaming population far more aware of the 40k universe. Games Workshop noticed a corresponding increase in uptake (although I do not have solid figures)

So why is Total War: Warhammer being released now that Age of Sigmar is here? There is going to be a new generation of people introduced to the Warhammer world that will want to get into the hobby and re-fight some of the battles and use characters portrayed in this game.

But they wont be able to.

With the apparent long lead times for developing models and this game, why wasn't the Total War franchise in on the ground floor?
