Falchion Superheavy Tank Destroyer Previewed
Forgeworld have been releasing thick and fast lately with the upcoming open day. This time we get shots of the Super Heavy Legion Falchion that we had teased a few weeks ago on the FW blog. It reminds me of a JE100 paper tank
The Falchion uses a potent weapon which combines technologies fielded in the Fellblade and the Shadowsword super-heavy tank. The Falchion’s twin-mounted Volcano cannon is one of the most powerful vehicle-mounted, anti-tank weapons in the Imperium’s arsenal and it requires such an investment in resources to construct just a single example that its use is limited to the Legiones Astartes. Even then, the Falchion is so rare that most Legions maintain but a handful, reserved for use against the largest of enemy war machines.
The Falchion was developed long before the outbreak of the Horus Heresy and as such its prey was not the enemy Titans it would later see such extensive combat against. As the Great Crusade expanded ever outward, the Expeditionary fleets encountered a staggering array of foes, some of whom were of a truly gargantuan scale, but all were set to ravening flame by the touch of the Falchion’s Volcano cannon.
The rules for the Falchion, as well as many other exciting new models, can be found in the forthcoming book The Horus Heresy Book Three: Extermination.A limited quantity of this multi-part resin kit, designed by Phil Stutcinskas, will be available to purchase at the Forge World Open Day. The Legion Falchion Super-heavy Tank Destroyer will go on general release in the next few weeks.
Also previewed are new industrial themed tiles

WIP Imperial Fists Fire Raptor
Some WIP on my first Fire Raptor. I've completed most of the chipping on the fuselage now, and most of the base colours are done.
I intend to add some gunmetal to the chipping using the spongeing technique to add greater depth to the yellow areas. I am still in two minds whether to chip away at the black (revealing the red/brown undercoat), or just use gunmetal and a sponge, or not chip it at all and to just highlight it with a blue/grey... The solid black looks very odd atm.
After the chipping/wearing is all done, a coat of varnish will be added before decals and then on to the oil washes and rust/streak effects, followed by powders and mud...

Games Workshop showing its anti social side?
Over the past 24 hours or so we have seen Games Workshop Digital Editions, Forgeworld, Black Library, and a number of store sites vanish from facebook.
Added to that, twitter accounts for Forgeworld appear to be disabled...
There has been much talk of a new website floating about on the interwebs, much of it crystal ball gazing and wishlisting, but it is hard to deny something is going on.

The Warmaster is up for pre-order
My previous thoughts where that Ferrus Manus was the best so far in the character series. Well not anymore. Behold the Warmaster, Horus Lupercal
Horus was the Primarch of the Luna Wolves Legion, later re-named the Sons of Horus in his honour, and greatest of his superhuman kind. A tactical genius and charismatic battle leader, Horus proved himself over the course of the Great Crusade as a warlord second only to the Emperor whom he served and called father. So it was that when the Emperor stood apart from the burden of command of the Great Crusade, it was Horus that he named Warmaster in his stead. But ambition and pride festered within the Warnaster's heart and at Davin he fell, and the lies and corruption of the Warp infected his soul. From then on he plotted with dark forces to usurp the Emperor's throne and become the master of Mankind, throwing the galaxy into bloody civil war.Horus the Warmaster, designed by Simon Egan, is an amazingly detailed multi-part resin model armed with The Warmaster's Talon and the great power maul Worldbreaker and is equipped with the Serpent's Scales. This latest addition to our Horus Heresy Character Series stands atop a scenic base depicting a ruined Imperial balustrade and stone staircase and is also supplied with a smaller removable base for gaming use. As with all of our Character series models, Horus is supplied in a handsome presentation box. This model is available to pre-order now and will despatched from Monday 14th April. You can find out more about how Simon Egan approached this most iconic of Horus Heresy modelling projects here. And Book 3 has been announced for the Northern Hemisphere spring. Shutup and take my money!
